Nostoi, the trio’s second work, blows on the ashes of the Homeric poem in its deepest plot. If with FORVOJAGI Gli Archimedi set off on a long journey touching the coasts of Europe and America, with the second album the journey is completed. Nostoi, means “return” and is an opposite and “reverse” journey, a circular journey that leads to new unknown lands. In this new work there are references to the previous styles, as the stylistic features of the jazz, manouche, folk tradition are found together with the new arrangements of traditional Romanian, Irish, Scottish, Latin American and bluegrass music. But the symptomatic element is the research work carried out by the three musicians with their unpublished compositions: “A Cat Story” by Giorgio Boffa, “La Danza di Maya” by Luca Panicciari and “Non Ricordo più il sogno” by Andrea Bertino, representation of a new awareness arising from their pilgrimage. And here the meaning of this discographic work is to be sought: the return journey, the “Homeric Nostoi”, that is to say an act of courage, almost of challenge, which takes the limit further and further away, in the name of a musical research in constant evolution.
